With advancement in physiotherapy technique and new concept of OSSCS, the roll of an pediatric orthopedic surgeon and rehabilitation specialist has increase many fold in overall management of child with cerebral palsy .Treatment of cerebral palsy require team approach so that all these special children with Cerebral palsy should not be suffer in inexperienced person. And to get best result, we should emphasized that therapist should be well trained in the management of developmental therapy otherwise child can deteriorate with improper physiotherapy.

Cerebral Palsy Definition– Cerebral palsy is described as a group of permanent disorders of the development of movement & posture causing activity limitation that are attributed to non-progressive disturbances that occurred in the fetal or infant brain from prenatal period to 3 year of postnatal period.

It is a life-long motor dysfunction that resulted from a one-time injury to the immature brain in a fetus or an infant. Severity of Lesion may ranges from Sectoral defect to global affection of brain. As a result, central control of muscle function is adversely affected for the remainder of an individual’s life.

The brain injury is static; it is not progressive (that is, it does not change or get worse). However, the dysfunctions or disabilities associated with cerebral palsy can be static, progressive or regressive; that is, they can remain constant, increase or decrease. These changes are due to biological, environmental and therapeutic influences on body structure and function.

It is a condition, not a disease. It is multifaceted problem. The motor disorders of cerebral palsy are often accompanied by disturbance of sensation, perception, cognition, communication , behavior , epilepsy.
